Collection: CDI Crowns

Dental crowns, also known as caps, are prosthetic devices used to cover a damaged, decayed, or weakened tooth. They are custom-made to fit over the entire visible portion of a tooth above the gum line, effectively restoring its shape, size, strength, and appearance.

Here are the primary purposes and benefits of dental crowns:

  1. Restoration of Tooth Structure: Crowns are used to protect and strengthen teeth that have been significantly weakened by decay, large fillings, or fractures. By encasing the tooth, crowns restore its original shape and function, allowing for normal chewing and biting forces.

  2. Support for Large Fillings: When a tooth has a large filling, especially if it covers a significant portion of the tooth, the remaining tooth structure can become susceptible to fractures. Crowns provide reinforcement and support to prevent further damage.

  3. Covering Dental Implants: Dental implants, which replace missing teeth with artificial ones anchored in the jawbone, are typically topped with crowns. These crowns restore the natural appearance and function of the missing tooth.

  4. Cosmetic Enhancement: Crowns can improve the appearance of teeth that are severely discolored, misshapen, or have undergone root canal treatment. They are designed to match the color, size, and shape of surrounding teeth, enhancing overall dental aesthetics.

  5. Protection for Weak Teeth: Teeth that are at risk of fracture due to conditions like enamel hypoplasia (underdeveloped enamel) or bruxism (teeth grinding) can benefit from crowns, which provide a protective barrier against further damage.

  6. Anchor for Dental Bridges: Crowns serve as abutments (anchors) for dental bridges, which replace one or more missing teeth by spanning the gap between adjacent teeth. The crowns on either side of the gap support the artificial teeth (pontics) that fill the space.

Dental crowns are typically made from various materials, including porcelain, porcelain fused to metal, metal alloys (such as gold or nickel), and zirconia. The choice of material depends on factors such as the location of the tooth in the mouth, functional requirements, and aesthetic considerations. Crowns are durable and can last many years with proper care and maintenance, making them a reliable solution for restoring dental health and function.

CDI offer patients high strength with high aesthetics. Dental Crowns have been used for decades to restore any missing or decayed teeth. Our crowns are made by hand and also using the latest technology of CAD/CAM and CNC milling.
